Magdalena Chrościńska-Krawczyk, MD, PhD is a pediatrician, pediatric neurologist, specializing in clinical genetics. She is an assistant professor at the Department of Children’s Neurology of the Children’s University Hospital in Lublin, academic lecturer, and she also cooperates with the University of Economics and Innovation in Lublin and the Catholic University of Lublin.
Dr. Chrościńska-Krawczyk is a graduate of the Medical University of Lublin. She defended her PhD in the field of pharmacotherapy of epilepsy. In 2009, she received a research grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, which resulted in a habilitation thesis on the impact of chronic use of methylxanthines on the effects of antiepileptic drugs in an animal model of epilepsy.
She is also a consultant in the field of Child Neurology in the province Lublin. At the Department of Pediatric Neurology, she conducts innovative therapies with the use of umbilical cord stem cells and autologous umbilical cord blood in diseases of the nervous system in children, implementing the “Cord Blood for Cerebral Palsy and Autism” program. She was the first in Poland to use gene therapy in the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy in children.
Of particular interest are neurological rare diseases, cerebral palsy, and an interdisciplinary approach to childhood disability. Dr. Chrościńska-Krawczyk is an author of many scientific papers, reports, academic textbooks, and she is a lecturer at national and international conferences.
